Wes Welker at FedEx

Today's lunch break is brought to you by the letter W - specifically for Wes Welker!

This morning as I was walking to work, I was accosted by an excited lady handing out flyers.  This happens all the time in Boston, so I wasn't expecting anything too great.  As I turned it over, however, I realized it was a flyer announcing that the Patriots' wide receiver, Wes Welker, would be at the FedEx a block away signing autographs around noon.

I couldn't pass that up, so at 11:45 I headed down to the FedEx and joined the 30 other people in line to meet Wes.  Everyone there was SO excited to meet him - several had even stopped by TJ Maxx on their way to buy whatever football/Patriots paraphernalia they could find for him to sign.  (Since I came from work, I brought a folded piece of white paper (hey - at least it didn't have lines on it!).)

There was a particularly excited group of college guys on either side of me in line, who entertained themselves by thinking of all the funny things they could do or say when them met him.  Only one was brave enough to do anything, and asked to arm wrestle him for their picture together.  Welker allowed the picture to show the kid winning, but once the camera flashed he promptly put the guy in his place.

It only took about 15 minutes to make it through the line.  Thankfully I didn't have to use the folded paper I'd brought for my autograph, as they had pictures of Wes at the table for him to sign.  After a quick smile for my cell phone camera and an autograph, I was on my way back to work!

I should really start bringing my good camera with me everywhere I go...

Check out another fun lunchtime extravaganza in a blog from last month, when I saw an impromptu Aerosmith concert down the street!

  2. Each of the factors in this equation would be equal until the last. The same amount of packages would be handled, virtually the same amount of miles driven to get the packages there, but much, MUCH more time to stop at 100 houses than just 1. FedEx delivery times
