15 dozen cupcakes and Pooh!

This past weekend was a busy one!  For a (very) part time baker, the thought of 12 dozen cupcakes + a two-tiered "Pooh, Piglet, bunny & "bia" cake" due on the same day seemed like I might have taken on too much!

The 12 dozen cupcakes were for the Somerville Homeless Coalition's 25th anniversary celebration and fundraiser.  It's an amazing organization that provides services, support, resources and housing for well over 600 men, women, and children.  Check out their website!  http://somervillehomelesscoalition.org/events/UTR/

They were red velvet with cream cheese icing,  vanilla with chocolate buttercream, and chocolate stout with cream cheese icing - 4 dozen of each!

While I was at it, I went ahead and made about 3 dozen more to bring to Easter lunch & for our landlord.  Chocolate Stout cupcakes was the least I could do for him having to listen to my mixer go until 2am!

I also had a two-tiered Easter cake due Saturday night.  This was a variation of a cake I'd made previously, which I've lovingly dubbed "Bunny Butt" (see below!).

The variations were inspired by the little girl's FAVORITE books - Winnie the Pooh - and included Pooh (with his pot of honey of course...), Piglet, rabbit, and a "bia" (which I later learned was what the little girl called her pink and white checked blanket)!  It was a LOT of fun to make...and the most fulfilling delivery I've ever done!  Check out the cake!  (They aren't great pictures but it gets the point across!  My camera died that night so all the pictures in this blog were taken with my cell.)

This coming weekend promises to be almost as busy...but not quite!
