Favorite Blogs of the Week

Happy Saturday!  Hope everyone's week is off to a great start!  I'm excited for a fun dinner with some friends at a super swanky restaurant, 80 Thoreau, tonight.

Without further ado, here are a few of my favorite blogs from the week.

Awesome food blogger and friend, Emily at Emylogus, posted a recipe for Brazilian Cheese Bread that made my mouth water.  This recipe also uses tapioca flour, so it's gluten free!
Get the recipe

This recipe from Iowa Girl Eats is seriously one of the most delicious looking meals ever.  Avocado, Mozerella and Bruschetta Chicken topped with a Balsamic Glaze - omg.  As soon as husband gets back from Florida...it's on the menu.
Seriously...don't you feel the need to make this NOW?
Everyday Occasions is hosting a Valentine's Day dinner for her friends (how sweet!) and has been brainstorming table settings.  I love what she's put together for the dinner party - soft fabrics (napkins, pillows, blankets, chairs), footed glassware, and a beautiful flower arrangement!
Maybe she'll invite me?

These Strawberry Bars would be an awesome Valentine treat...and you've gotta love Valentine's Day food that isn't chocolate covered strawberries or cupcakes.  :)  (But if you want to see some Valentine's Day cupcakes...you can check these out!)
Strawberry sweets
Eating Bird Food posts the most amazing looking salads.  My favorite this week is her Cabbage, Carrot, and Apple Salad with a Tahini Dressing.  Love a salad without the traditional lettuce base!

And finally, here's a heartwarming  crazy story about bad Boston drivers.  Someone drove their car onto the T (our subway) tracks and got stuck.  This happened right in front of my office on Beacon Street in Brookline.  If you know where this is, you know 1) it's pretty obvious this isn't a road, and 2) she got pretty far down the tracks before her car got stuck.  Quite impressive.
Hint: sometimes the GPS is wrong......

See you Monday!

Favorites this week - January 26

It has been so cold here in Boston this week!  With lows in the single digits and highs in the low 20's, I've been scrambling from my car, to the office, to the car, and back home as quickly as I can.  No time for dilly dallying outside!

To make matters worse, our heat stopped working in our apartment for most of the week.  The makeshift solution husband figured out a few months ago gave out, so after short-lived stints of heat for the better part of the week and the thermostat not going above 50 degrees, we called the landlord.  I know...I know...just call the landlord the first time.  It's why you rent!  (Well...that and homes around Boston are crazy expensive.)  Oops.  :)

The plus to all of this is that Toby, our mini dachshund, came to work with me yesterday, since the plummer was going to be in and out of the apartment fixing things.  THAT makes for a fun day at work!
Toby's set-up for the day - toys, bones, blanket, cat bed, and tennis ball.  Now if he can just get that sweater off...

Now, on to some of my favorite blogs this week.  Several of the recipes would be perfect for the Super Bowl, so check'em out if you're hosting a party!

The Feta Stuffed Buffalo Chicken Meatballs from Iowa Girl Eats look a-mazing!  You could swap out the Feta for Bleu Cheese if you wanted to be a purist.
Get the recipe and make these meatballs!

I recently found A Beautiful Mess, and I had a hard time picking which of her blogs was my favorite this week.  Finally the Grapefruit Donuts won out...but her painted kitchen cabinets were a close second!

Every Super Bowl party needs a yummy Onion Dip...and A Spicy Perspective's recipe is as far as you need to search, as it calls for bacon and caramelized onions.  Mmmm...
Dip those chips!
I was really excited to come across a recipe for Chili Lime Cauliflower this week.  I've been trying to get husband to eat cauliflower with me for years...this may be the recipe to win him over!  It would also make a great side (that's not the predictable chips, beans, or salad) for fajitas or tacos!
What a way to enjoy cauliflower!
I've been wanting to hang more pictures of US in our apartment, and this week Young House Love shared how they are doing just that with their Instagram Photo Project.  I don't use Instagram (i know...only person out there not using it...), but you can totally do this with regular pictures too!
Such a fun way to display your family pictures!
And finally...the solution to the cold.  My cousins-in-law have the coolest life...ever.  They moved to St Croix (Virgin Islands) a few years ago and have been keeping a blog of their experiences.  Jeff is a Scuba/Dive guide (coolest job ever) and posted this blog from a recent dive when they came across a group of dolphins.  Watch the videos...and then check out the rest of their adventures!  They also have the best blog name ever - Life is short so are my pants.
Oh to be swimming with dolphins right now...

Favorite Finds this Week - January 19

What a week.  While this week at work was filled with one emergency after another, this week in blog-land was a fun one!  Check out some of my favorites from the week.

I can't imagine many things more amazing than Mint, White Chocolate, mousse, and spongy chocolate cake. This Mint-White Chocolate Mousse Cake has it all...and a pretty green color!  I can't wait to make this recipe from SprinkleBakes!
Get the recipe for Mint-White Chocolate Mousse Cake.
I love to do nice things for our pup, Toby, so I saved this dog treat recipe as soon as I found it.  These Sweet Potato Pretzel Dog Treats from Brown Eyed Baker only have 4 ingredients and are super cute.  Toby'll be licking his lips in no time.
Spoil your pooch with these dog treats.
I love this kitchen - lots of space, big counter tops  distressed cabinets...and it's black, white and red!  All it's missing is a rooster, and I'd move right in.  Check out Our Fifth House's latest addition to her beautiful kitchen - a new pendant light over the sink.
Pretty, pretty pendant!
I love looking through "link up parties" to see what other bloggers are up to.  Kelly's Korner hosted a themed party this week and as of Friday night there were almost 200 soup recipes listed!  That's a lot of different options to warm you up this winter!
So many options...so little time!

A delicious looking Dulce De Leche Frosting recipe from Cupcake Project.  There can't be many better ways to top a cupcake...
Get the recipe
I love this crocheted pearl necklace from Knot-Cha-Cha.  So pretty and could be dressed up or down.  See her blog about what you'll need, and then the how-to so you can make one of your very own.
Check it out!

Some of my Favorite Blog this Week!

I thought I might start a new blog series featuring some of my favorite posts from other bloggers from the week.  I'm always looking for new bloggers to follow - there are so many creative and talented people out there!  Without further ado, here are some of my favorites from the week.

Mini Manor Blog showed the inside of her spice cabinet and shared lots of her homemade spice blends!  Skip the store-bought packets, save money, and find what you're looking for!
Check out the blog here!
For the past year or so, Travis and I have been on a huge mushroom kick.  I can't wait to try this Creamy Mushroom Soup recipe from the Part Time Housewife.

Get the recipe here!

Although we don't make it often, I love good homemade hot fudge on ice cream.  This week, I came across a recipe for Peanut Butter Hot Fudge Sauce on Love and Olive Oil.  I can't wait to make this next time we make our chocolate ice cream!
Make this hot fudge!
I loved this easy thank you gift idea from Casa de Lewis - what a sweet way to send hugs and kisses!

Send sweets to your sweet friends!

This looked like such a fun recipe to make with kids.  Made with tortillas layered with cinnamon and sugar and topped with cream cheese frosting, the Cinnamon Tortilla Cake from Budget Gourmet Mom is awesome!
Check it out!

This post from akaBailey makes me want to go to Canada.  Banff is an adoreable little town surrounded by HUGE mountains!  You're going to love the pictures.  They even saw a (two) horse open slay...dashing through the snow (for real).

Are those mountains not amazing?  Check out the rest of the pics!
