We started with a 1 mile ride up the mountain on North America's longest aeriel tramway system. The way up was quite smooth and relaxing, but the way down left us breathless from the initial drop. Not expecting that! Up at the top, there were giant wooden carvings, beautiful views of the city below, and bears (oh my!), among other things.
After spending a little time looking at the bears, we took another chairlift up the rest of the mountain to the peak. The views just got better! If that wasn't enough for you, there was a windmill at the top of the mountain you could go up for an even better view. We opted out of that, since we couldn't imagine adding another 50 feet would really change that much for us.
Then it was time to head back down the mountain and back to the house...but not before stopping at a REAL CANADIAN SUPERSTORE. We were so glad they specified that it was a legitimate Canadian Superstore, since going to an impostor would have been awful.
All in all, day one was AMAZING. We decided that Capilano Suspension Bridge Park is a MUST DO, but to be honest, you could skip Grouse Mountain. The views were beautiful and bears were cool, but really it was just a lot of money for scenery...spend your time elsewhere!
Up next...Stanley Park!
Gorgeous scenery!
ReplyDeleteSo fun! You are really making me want to go to Vancouver like yesterday!!
ReplyDeleteLauren, I have really enjoyed seeing your trip to Canada. It looks like you had a wonderful time. You are really looking well. I am excited about the baby and Sherrie is excited to know Pastor Lee and Alice are going to be grandparents. LOL.
